Don't Make Me Think - Steve Krug

Don't Make Me Think!

As web developers we have to make sure that our web sites are easy and clear to understand. Since the main objective of this web site is entertain my family members and friends, I planned and designed it so that it would be easy enought for anyone that want to see how are we doing here in Rexbur, ID. They clearly do not have to think to get what they are looking for.

How we realy use the web...

Since people don't realy read what is in the page and only scan it, I only write what is realy necessary as a source of information and curiosity. In this web site I'm not trying to sell anything nor advertise anything, and the people that visit it will do it when they actualy have time to look at our pictures and read our coments. For these reason, the web site becomes easy to navigate and get arround.

Billboard Design 101

Visual hierarchy is very important in a web site. It becomes evidently whe its used and it makes the web site a lot more easy to understand. As an example of this, just take a look at this page for example. It is hierarchical structured so that the user can understand the content. Also, as far as conventions go, I designed a very consistent web site. The menu and hyperlinks are obvious and the CSS is correct.

Animal, vegetable, or mineral?

This web site makes it very easy for navigation as far as the number of clicks the users have to do to go where they want to. The links are meaningfull and simple.

Omit needless words

As noticed in this web site, there isn't much writting. Every thing si right to the point. Even though I'm not selling enything, I don't want my visitors to waste time and get bored.

The First Step In Recovery Is Admitting That The Home Page Is Beyond Your Control

My web page has pretty much all that the author pointed out, at least for this site's purpose. It sure is attractive and informative to its expectators.

Assesability, Cascading Style Sheets, and You

CSS plays a big role in my web site. I have two external style sheets, one for screen and one for print.
